Trim Levels
The 2023 Jeep Compass is available in eight trims: Sport, Latitude, Altitude, Latitude Lux, High Altitude, Limited, (RED) Edition, and Trailhawk. After undergoing a complete exterior refresh with the 2022 models, the 2023 Compass maintains Jeep's traditional seven-slot grille and sleek contoured lines. It comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, and roof rails, while other trims add fog lights, a black-painted roof, and a hands-free liftgate.
Engine
Regardless of the trim, all 2023 Jeep Compass vehicles come with the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that cranks out 200 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. This engine has 23 horsepower and 49 pound-feet more compared to the previous engine. These numbers are best in class for a standard engine. This new engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all the wheels. Standard all-wheel drive is a new addition for the 2023 model year since it was an upgrade in the previous year's model.
Performance
Compared to other vehicles in its class, the 2023 Jeep Compass achieves average gas mileage. Expect to get an EPA-estimated 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. However, where the SUV truly excels is when you take it off-roading. Its Selec-Terrain drive mode system has Mud, Sand, and Snow settings. Its Trailhawk trim is geared exclusively for difficult terrain with its skid plates, extra drive modes in Hill Descent and Rock, and a specially tuned four-wheel-drive system. Also, when properly equipped, the SUV has a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds.
Interior
As a two-row SUV that seats five people, the 2023 Jeep Compass has soft and comfortable seats that provide plenty of cushioning even when traveling over rough terrain. The Compass has one of the better infotainment systems available in its class with the Uconnect 5. The previously available 10.1-inch touchscreen display now comes standard. The SUV comes standard with satellite radio, Bluetooth, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, three USB ports, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Available upgrades include wireless smartphone charging, navigation, HD radio, and Amazon Alexa connectivity.
Safety Features
Jeep outfitted the 2023 Compass with more than 80 standard and available safety and security features. A few of these key standard features include forward automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection, driver-attention monitoring, and blind-spot monitoring. To keep children safe, the SUV has two complete sets of LATCH connectors found in its rear outboard seats and a tether anchor located in the rear middle seat. Some add-on safety features include front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view parking camera system, and adaptive cruise control with a traffic jam assist.
