Getting Your Motor Oil Viscosity Right

Motor oil change is a key component in ensuring that your motors run at their optimum level. However, changing the oil also comes with different factors in mind. One of the most important features you must be cautious about when buying motor oil is viscosity.

Each motor oil bottle has different viscosity levels, and that is why you will notice different letters and numbers written on the bottle. These numbers and letters have particular meanings. Let’s take the example of 10W-30. In this case, the number preceding the first letter, W, shows the viscosity of the oil at low temperatures. On the other hand, the number that comes after the letter represents the viscosity of the oil when the engine gets hot.
